Our First Snow Day

The kids had their first snow day after only four days of school. A snow day in Mississippi is unheard of, but we got eight inches of snow in our town. That was more than anywhere in the whole state. I think it was just for my little ninos. They had never seen snow and it was an exciting day.  They woke up at 5:30am and started getting dressed.  We had to convince them to put on more clothes.  They had no idea how cold it was.  They still can't understand why they have to wear long sleeves and layers of clothes.  Papi played in the snow with them all day long.  Snowball fights, snowmen and even some of Papi's famous snowcream.  We are from Indiana and grew up with lots of snow in the winter.  We always made ice cream out of snow.  The kids loved this because ice cream is one of their favorite food groups.

Another highlight of our snow day was that our electricity went off Friday morning and did not come back on until Saturday night.  We had to sleep in the living room by the fireplace and snuggle up under all the blankets in the house.  We cooked chicken and dumplings, mashed potatos and biscuits on the grill.  Our neighbors came to the rescue and brought some firewood and a generator.  We are very blessed to be a part of a great community.

It was a great day. I love living in the country. I want them to have all the fun we did growing up.
