Family

At 4:30 a.m. I am thinking - family is complicated. I was amazed at how the kids did not hesitate to see us as their family when they walked in the room that first day. They had been well prepared to see us as their mami and papi and did not even consider it other wise. I would have been saying "let's wait and see." Not them. They were looking for a family.
They mentioned their two sisters Monica and Kelly the other night in prayer. The family adopting them (just down the street) had a good integration yesterday too. Hopefully that means we can let them see each other now. During our intergration meeting the social worker told the kids that they will see their brothers and sisters in the US. Diana's eyes filled up and she looked at us for confirmation. When we said yes she smiled.
The kids love to talk to "Abuelito and Abuelita"(Mary's parents) on the phone. Mary's Dad's birthday is today and they have practiced singing happy birthday (half English, half Spanish)and we will call him today and sing it to him.
These kids will be well loved because we have a large extended family. They will soak in!

Isn't it amazing! I agree with you about thinking that the children would want to "check us out" before deciding to be a part of the family, especially with the older ones. Wow. It is really encouraging to hear and I'm so happy for you!

Hey, let's go to Exito tomorrow so the kids can meet and ride the rides in the store. Sound good?
